A former employee of the Nebraska Department of Administrative Services named Mike Hoover has filed suit regarding alleged sex discrimination against himself and other males in the department. Hoover has accused the State of allowing supervisors and employees to demean and discriminate against men in his department. The law suit was transferred to the federal court in Nebraska this week.
The lawsuit was initially filed last year. The suit names the State of Nebraska and two Administrative Services officials as defendant.
Hoover has alleged that during his employment with the department from March 2007 to February 2010, his female supervisor made derogatory remarks about male employees, allowed women more flexibility to work from home, and gave women more pay increases.
The lawsuit alleges that when Hoover complained, both his supervisor and the department's director retaliated against him, forcing him to resign.
